Igniting digital marketing job opportunities for students with World Class Brands

Malaysian Advertisers collaborates with Google Ignite to build digital marketing talents in Malaysia.

Kuala Lumpur, 5 August 2015  – The Malaysian Advertiser Association (MAA) collaborates with Google for their exclusive training program for university students to learn and experience digital marketing with the opportunity to kick start their career in Digital Marketing. Through this programme, students will be able to secure an internship opportunity with world renowned brands.

Representing over an array of brands combined, these 9 major companies have agreed to come on board through this initiative with MAA and Google. These 9 major companies are AirAsia Berhad, Digi Telecomunications Sdn Bhd, Tune Group Sdn Bhd, L’Oreal Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Maybank Banking Berhad, Maxis Mobile Services Berhad, Nestle Products Sdn Bhd, Procter & Gamble (M) Sdn Bhd and Unilever (M) Holdings Sdn Bhd.

“There is a high demand in the workplace for good digital marketers and we find there are not enough of them in the Malaysia. Together with Google Ignite, the Malaysian Advertisers are able to support and drive this ecosystem to build great digital marketing talents of the future”, says Emily Lim, project lead for Training Initiatives in MAA and Digital Director from L’Oreal.

Since the launch on 3 July 2015, Google Ignite has received an overwhelming response from the University Partners and students. “We look forward to the outcome of this project and hope to place the best talents with our brands”, says Margaret Au-Yong President of the MAA and Head of Media, Marketing & Facilities in Tune Group.

Throughout the programme, Google currently supports the students with online learning modules for self-studying and a few scheduled in-university training. Students who obtain the Google Adwords Certification by passing the necessary exams will be eligible to apply for the internship and will be invited to an exclusive career fair to network with potential employees and peers.

ABOUT MAA

The Malaysian Advertisers Association (MAA) is the single body representing the interest of advertisers in all areas of commercial communications.

Founded in 1964, MAA has over 60 member companies and 47 associate members whose total communications spend is in excess of 11.6 billion ringgit.

These include some of the largest, most influential and innovative marketers in the country across categories as diverse as travel, packaged goods, technology and healthcare.

  • Eliminating all fraudulent, untruthful, misleading or otherwise objectionable advertising, increasing thereby the public confidence in advertising and in advertised goods and services.

As a representative of advertisers in a broad spectrum of sectors at national, regional and international level, MAA is also a key associate of various bodies:-

  1. Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC)
  2. Advertising Standards Authority Malaysia (ASA)
  3. Communications and Multimedia Content Forum (CMCF)
  4. Asian Federation of Advertising Associations (AFAA) and
  5. World Federation of Advertisers (WFA).

Their missions are to address the challenges facing the association and members and to represent the collective voice of the advertisers and sit right at the heart of the advertising industry.
